About Island Mamas Midwifery

Dani Dougherty

CPM, LM, BS, PCES

Dani Dougherty (formerly Dani Kennedy) is a Certified Professional Midwife and a Licensed Midwife in Hawaii. She has attended more than 500 births, and worked as a Certified Doula before she began pursuing midwifery. Dani started out working at a high volume birth center in Idaho for 4 years before moving back to Hawaii to begin her home birth practice in 2010. She is a member of the Midwives Alliance of Hawaii Registry of Midwives, and served on the MAH executive board for 8 consecutive years.

Along with the continuing education courses required for a CPM, Dani makes it a point to continually research and fine tune her knowledge of the human body from a holistic health care perspective. She also holds a Bachelors degree in Health & Exercise Science from the University of Hawaii at Hilo, and is a Certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist; specializing in pelvic floor and core function.

Dani comes from a legacy of midwifery.... her mother, sister and brother-in-law are all midwives, as well as other extended family members.  She birthed her own three children with midwives, and loves empowering women, and in turn their families.
